Gummies containing new synthetic cannabinoids can cause poisoning – warned the National Public Health and Pharmaceutical Center (NNGYK) in a statement sent to MTI on Friday.
Consuming THCJD-marked gummies, which have appeared in CBD and hemp shops in recent months, is extremely dangerous to health, so the NNGYK asks the public to avoid buying and consuming products with this mark.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is found in the hemp plant and its flowers and is the main active ingredient in some nutritional supplements. Hemp shops sell cannabis products, including CBD oils and cosmetics.
Last week, the police seized a supply of gummies containing synthetic cannabinoids, little known until now, from a shop selling CBD products in the city center after several, mainly foreign nationals, were hospitalized with poisoning symptoms after consuming the product, they wrote.
According to the tests carried out at the National Center for Experts and Research, the main active ingredient in gummies marked THCJD is not THC extracted from hemp, but several structurally similar synthetic compounds, which are much stronger than THC and exert their effects more slowly. This increases the risk of overdose. As a result of the consumption of the compounds, the perception, mood, and behavior change, overdose can cause inability to speak and move, they explained.
In its warning, the NNGYK asked the public not to buy products marked with THCJD in stores or on the Internet, and not to consume gum of unknown origin
In case of suspicion of poisoning, you can call the emergency number 112 or the Health Toxicology Information Service at +36/80/201-199, the NNGYK announced.
