Hearing these rhythms, it will be hard for anyone to stay seated!

LURA in Budapest for the first time The songs of Cape Verdean artists are still an essential part of popular playlists today. Names like Mayra Andrade, Sara Tavares, Tcheka, Hernani, Mario Lucio, Nancy Vieria, Elida Almeida, Teofilo Chantre, and Evora might sound familiar. The most outstanding singer of the genre worldwide is undoubtedly LURA, who has never been to Budapest, but will travel to our country at the invitation of the Margaret Island Theater „Margitsziget szabadtéri színház” Theater to spice up the summer with an unforgettable party. The fantastic voice and energy of the singer will bring the genuinely danceable melodies of Cape Verde. Lura’s authentic music captivates audiences worldwide. With her suggestive singing and captivating storytelling, she guides listeners deep into the musical traditions of Cape Verde.

Fresh sounds, old roots Recently, the singer surprised her fans with a new album in which she experiments with new sounds while staying true to her Portuguese and Cape Verdean roots. The singer combines the musical traditions of the Cape Verdean Republic with modern elements, creating a work that has gained international recognition. Her music breathes new life into the sounds of Cape Verde and the audience alike.

Where does all this wonder come from? The country, with a population of barely half a million, is bursting with music that flows, floats, and pulses everywhere, much like morna, the country’s most famous export, made known and loved worldwide by Cesaria Evora. Currently, LURA is the most popular authentic representative of morna, showing that this miracle is worth not only nurturing but also showcasing. This music has become a defining and indispensable pillar of the nation’s identity and economic development. Just listen, close your eyes, and it will transport you to a place where you can be happy!

Caribbean party before and after the concert Before and after LURA’s concert, the Barrio Latino band will set the mood in the theater courtyard, at the Cloister. Their song „Con Clave Y Tambó” quickly spread worldwide, with the salsa community dancing to it in more than 50 countries from Peru to Japan. The famous Cuban hotel Capri in Havana used their music in its commercial. They are the first timba band in Hungary, with their singer Mario Ochoa from Honduras. Grammy-winning sound engineer and record producer Michael Lazarus discovered their music, and their first single was released by the California-based Latin Pulse Music label.

Budapest is gearing up for a Caribbean festival Opening act, after-party, and a show await the audience on July 24 at the Margaret Island Theater.
