Certainly, here’s the full translation of the news related to the traffic restrictions and changes due to the national holiday events on August 20 in Budapest.

Due to the state events associated with the August 20 national holiday, several traffic restrictions and closures will be necessary in the downtown area of the capital, affecting public transportation as well.

In the morning hours, the area directly adjacent to the Danube will be closed off due to the Air Parade, and in the afternoon, restrictions will be expected around József Attila Street and the Basilica area due to the Holy Right Hand procession. Additionally, throughout the day, only pedestrians will be allowed on the Chain Bridge, and several areas including the Buda Castle, Várkert Quay, and the Technical University Quay will be closed to road and tram traffic due to the event.

Due to the fireworks, from 19:00, the bridges and quays between Margaret Bridge and Liberty Bridge, as well as the surrounding streets, will be closed. The closures and restrictions, as well as the expected large number of spectators, mean the Budapest Transport Center recommends more frequent use of public transport services in the downtown area, especially the metro. BKK asks passengers to keep up to date with the changes related to the fireworks display. Current, real-time traffic information can be found on BKK’s website.

Public transport services will operate on a Saturday schedule on August 19, Monday, and a holiday schedule on August 20, Tuesday.

The fireworks display will begin at 21:00 on August 20, Tuesday, and is expected to end at 21:35. In the late afternoon and evening, road and surface public transport may be restricted in the area bordered by Margit Bridge–Szent István Boulevard–Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Road–Károly Boulevard–Kossuth Lajos Street–Free Press Road–Elisabeth Bridge–Krisztina Boulevard–Vérmező Road–Margit Boulevard, with affected routes operating on a modified schedule.

Road restrictions and closures:

  • The Lower Quay on the Pest side is closed between Margaret Bridge and Közraktár Street, and the Lower Quay on the Buda side between Rákóczi Bridge and Margaret Bridge;
  • The Chain Bridge is accessible only to pedestrians, then completely closed off to pedestrian traffic from 20:00 as well;
  • Restrictions are continuous in the Buda Castle area;
  • Due to the Hungarian Flavors Street, Lánchíd Street and Várkert Quay are closed;
  • The Technical University Quay and Budafoki Road at Szent Gellért Square are fully closed;
  • Constitution Street in District V remains closed;
  • From 16:00, road traffic is restricted on Margaret Bridge, with the affected buses traveling in both directions on the tram tracks;
  • From 19:00, Liberty Bridge, Elizabeth Bridge, and Margaret Bridge are fully closed,
  • From 14:00 to 20:00, traffic around József Attila Street and the Basilica area is restricted due to the Holy Right Hand procession.

This comprehensive overview should help you understand the expected disruptions and plan accordingly.
